The Five Love Languages of Volunteering: Giving Gifts

By Sierra Pope, VISTA Volunteer Coordinator

Gifts

Next in our love languages series is gift-giving. This might be how you show love if you like to provide people with needed items or surprise them with something to show that you care. Becoming a donor to Willis Dady is a great way to engage your gift-giving side.

There are several different ways that you can donate to Willis Dady. The first, most simple, way to donate is by making a financial donation. You can do this online by clicking the donate button in our website header, in person, or by mail.

Another way to be a giver would be to donate physical items to our shelter. We’re almost always in need of travel-sized hygiene items and non-perishable, single-serve food. What you use on a daily basis is something typically something our clients need as well.

For an updated list of our needs, check out our monthly needs list at www.willisdady.org/donate. We also post a few high-need items every Wednesday on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WillisDadyHomelessServices/.

Please keep in mind that while we appreciate all donors, not all donations are useful for us in particular. We cannot accept women’s items, children’s items, home goods, furniture, and most perishable food. Our needs change seasonally and based on our storage space at the time.

Before bringing in donations that are not on our current needs list, please call ahead to schedule a donation drop-off time with our Volunteer Coordinator, Sierra. We may also be able to provide referrals to other agencies that could take your donation.

Being a donor can be as much as a commitment that you'd like! Give what you can, when you can! No gift is too big or too small to make an impact in our community.
